You know, parents who are requesting asylum have not committed a crime. It's along the same lines as being OK with child protective services taking your children while you report a burglary to the police.

Just because you are seeking asylum does NOT automatically authorize you to break the law and cross the boarder illegally. You show up at the boarder crossing point and make your request for asylum.

MSgt (Join to see) - they are separating the children from the ones showing up at a legal crossing site too.

Isn’t illegal family separation just a new area for the liberals to complain about?

Maj Marty Hogan - No, even legally when they are asking for asylum, it's happening.

No, because it isn't a liberal issue or a conservative one to me at all. I don't see how it can be political--to me it's a moral issue. I don't understand how anyone can defend it.

Capt Gregory Prickett if it was elsewhere sorta stands to reason. Much of what o have read talks about the asylum bit but have a hard time thinking someone in Utah just landed there. Not condoning just trying to separate the chaff and flare

Maj Marty Hogan - there is a U.S. Port of Entry in Utah. Hell, there are 4 just in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and we're 500 miles from the border.

Unfortunately when you break the law and bring your children along, all bets are off.

Unfortunately, under both U.S. and international law, seeking asylum is a legal act.

MSgt (Join to see) - the Border Patrol won't let them do so at the crossing point. Like at McAllen, where they shut down the bridge for days at a time.
