I was a BM3 and a CHENG, so take this for what it is worth... WTF? Seriously! LNG's are the only ship that scared me at sea. Never got near one if I could help it. Does the North Sea Route really need an icebreaker? Wouldn't it be cheaper to pipeline it to a warm water port. Because my back of the napkin quick math tells me that the slower speed trying to break ice is ridiculously slower than any other warm water route... But they didn't ask me...

I'm sure they did their math, LT. Going Via Panama adds 2, 3 weeks on that route, so it doesn't seem too much of a stretch that this is faster. Still wouldn't catch me doing it. No spark needed to turn LNG explosive...just sudden decompression. As in...a puncture. Like...from ice. Wtf. Lol. (Which is why these ships both baffle and terrify me. I prefer known possible nuclear-level events to be contained in silos or reactors.)
