Pilot killed in Bonita Springs plane crash accused of being an 'unapologetic' valor thief

This past week Daniel A Bernath, Disbarred Lawyer, Convicted Stalker and Ex-Convict died after crashing his light Sport Plane into a heavily wooded area near a golf course In Bonita Springs, Florida. Bernath was well known to Stolen Valor groups and had a long reputation for filing frivolous lawsuits with the intent not of winning, but costing the plaintiffs huge sums in legal defense fees. He was released from prison on Jan 19th after serving 3 1/2 months of a year long sentence after being convicted of stalking and harassing a retired Navy SEAL and his wife over a three year period. Bernath was also involved in another crash in 2013 that he walked away from. He refused to cooperate with investigators and the NTSB determined that he was at fault for flying without adequate fuel.

He came on the Stolen Valor Radar in Dec 2013. If you are ever inclined to go down a rabbit hole google his name. He was a prolific stalker of anyone he considered against him. He would send letters and emails to federal and state Law enforcement saying people were pedophiles, drug dealers or arms dealers.

SSG (Join to see) - Probably more than that,,,, he frequently stalked and harassed the owner and admins of the blog and filed lawsuits against them.

Thisainthell.us had a long standing history with this guy. There was at least 2 lawsuits filed by the deceased against that site.

Quite a few more than that. One of the co admins of the Blog and the American Legion recently counter-sued Bernath and cleaned his clock for about 2 million dollars

1stSgt Eugene Harless - I knew Bernath filed suit against them a few times, I didn't know about the 2 million counter-suit. That would explain why the admin didn't want to say much except that Bernath died.
