This article was much better written than the one on deception. I totally agree with you that our overdependence on electronics does, in fact, create a significant vulnerability for U.S. forces in general. It's no secret that our forces depend on electronics. What makes us so powerful is our superior C4I capability and our enemies know that. If an enemy wants to level the playing field they will seek to exploit our dependence on electronics and communications to their advantage (i.e., deny us our use of EW) to create chaos on the battlefield.

This is going beyond the article a bit, but I have concerns about the use of EMP's and how it would factor into our strategy to deal with rogue nations that possess nuclear capabilities. A tactical EMP would be devastating to our forces on the battlefield. Strategically, one or two blown up over the U.S. would pretty much shut down all our transportation, fry our electrical grid, and would take months and require external help from allies to recover from. What are we doing to counter that threat from countries like NK and Iran?

Agree on the EMP danger aspects - long term threat.
