Tons of it floating or sunken in ocean. I was unaware until being on USN amphibs in years past. I overheard some of crew talking about us leaving anchored position off coast to do a "pump and dump". They pull anchor and get out past the legal boundary that applies and empty bilges and throw garbage over the side. They are conscious to what can go though. Some of the stuff gets compacted and doesn't get tossed. Most of it is leftover chow or produce and stuff that the critters eat. Some is cardboard and stuff. When they can't leave position it sometimes accumulates in passageways until they can pull anchor. It eventually sinks and I think they restrict plastic and some items, but all vessels from all nations do it. Saw a video of folks extracting a soda straw that had grown into nose of a sea turtle and felt bad for it because it looked pretty painful. I don't litter at all but unless folks recycle they are all indirectly littering because it all ends up in a landfill somewhere. Thanks for sharing.
