Things were so much simpler before the Church Committee. We saw a bad guy that was bad for the World. We groomed someone in the wings. After economic and diplomatic means were exhausted we used civil unrest up to a point that it was not working. We then removed the bad guy by whatever means. We didn't even have PGM's then either. I don't know what the lines of succession are in NK but if China can't get this guy in line it may be time for him to befall tragedy. He's a nut case and is becoming a nuisance. Their people are starving but firmly under control, so that leaves out civil unrest. Anyone that sees a Carrier Strike Group inbound and responds that the US is about to suffer major military defeat is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Tomahawks destroying concrete won't work here and every economic and diplomatic method has been exhausted. Use contractors with no $ trail or linkage to IC. Laze his convoy and light him up, and then say what attack? Preplanned crash of platform/device with markings pointing to elsewhere. We're saddened to hear of the attack and loss of life that appears to have been spearheaded by a splinter group out of (insert country). Eventually these idiots du jour will figure out that their antics may have impact on their health record.

A very fair and balanced evaluation of the situation. I've seen others reporting China's deployment to the Yalu as absolute fact. I suspect it's true but that could simply be wishful thinking. What is their intent if they are there? Are they preparing to make an incursion into North Korea in cooperation with US tactical strikes on nuclear and government facilities or are they preparing to reinforce North Korea if the US acts unilaterally? That is the question. Inscrutable China as always.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint Interesting article. The key piece here is the sanity issue with Kim. I think he is somewhere between nuckin' futs and batshit crazy. I don't think he cares about what China, or the U.S. either say or do. He will continue to do what he wants to do. Right now what he wants to do is make North Korea a certified nuclear power. If that happens, China will be right in the cross hairs along with anyone else he has the capability of hitting with a missile. It may force the Chinese hand in forcing him out.
