Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that plea bargaining gained favor in some of the USA courts in 1881. Thankfully our system of justice has been generally fair throughout our history=y with suspects being considered innocent until proved guilty being the process most of the time - lynchings were a sad part of our history.

I can understand the reasoning if the prosecution may not have a strong enough case to guarantee a conviction. It can save a lot of taxpayer dollars. However, if the case is iron-clad, and is a serious crime (rape, murder, etc) then I say "no deal,"
