I used to joke with the Chief at USN Recruiting Office next door about him hanging a white coat in office for physicals. That has happened I'm sure.

TSgt David L. - You'd be amazed at what happens when folks get away from the flagpole. Recruiters dating HS girls, getting them knocked up etc. Takes common sense, strong will and survival skills.

CWO3 (Join to see) - I'm sure things get shady. My recruiter was replaced (don't know what happened to him) for dating a prospective female recruit.

We had a superstar that made SSgt meritoriously. Was married and also gave engagement ring to HS chick. He was rolling the numbers in tough times so it was hushed or not proven. A surfer from CA, and the girls love the uniform. The new MSgt that came into area as I was leaving, I later learned really blew it. His family had a roadhouse in SE MO, and he was driving GSA over there and gone a lot. At an adjacent station east of me. He was MGySgt selected but things went south fast. I heard about it over the phone from Pendleton. He blew a head gasket and killed his girlfriend in TN then drove to MS River bridge, parked the GSA and jumped. They said he laid her out at attention after choking her out, then threw his uniforms, citations and awards in dumpster before finishing the mission. Guess he had a checklist - kill her, dump USMC, and take a swim. I could see in his eyes that he was not right, but not my fight and above my pay grade. Overall a nice guy, but one never knows. He spent time in Nam. Too much maybe. Marital problems too. Wife didn't want to move to Podunk from San Diego.
