Based on 2008 Figures there are roughly 800,000 full-time law enforcement officers and 44, 000 part time law enforcement officers with the powers of arrest and who carry firearms. In 2017, 46 law enforcement officers were killed by firearms, riding to the sound of the guns. As of June 1, 2018, 25 law enforcement officers have been killed by firearms.
