The city’s goal is to help keep batteries out of the regular waste system and reduce the amount of battery fires in garbage trucks and recycling centers.
Portland is making it easier for many residents to recycle batteries at home.
This month, the city’s Bureau of Planning and Sustainability launched a new curbside battery recycling service to help people get rid of batteries safely. Residents who get curbside service and live in a house, duplex, triplex or fourplex can now put unwanted batteries that fit into a sealed clear bag inside their glass recycling bin for pick up.

I think it’s awesome that Portland is making battery recycling easier for residents! I’ve always been a bit nervous about disposing of batteries properly, but this new curbside service sounds like a great way to make sure they don’t end up in the trash. A while back, I had a similar experience with https://www.wrg.co.uk when I was clearing out old electronics and batteries. They made the process so simple, and I loved how they took care of everything in an environmentally friendly way. It feels good knowing that these things are being recycled properly.
