This program was/is ripe with abuse.......it usually only takes one rotten apple to spoil it for all those deserving....the job is never done until the paperwork is done....and the VA loves paperwork.....there are a lot of Vets that are not in VA homes because of this program.......where is the Leadership?

It is not surprising that the liberal state of Oregon would have the Portland VA removing qualified veterans from the caregiver program SFC William Farrell.
I hope the Oregon government in general and Portland in particular are not supporting illegal aliens still in the sanctuary sense. If they are shame on them.
It seems bizarre to me that the Portland VA is temporarily halting is removal of veterans from the program.
I would hope that the system would be managed nationwide and that eligible veterans would be funded nationally.

You would think so LTC Stephen F.. SSgt Michael Cox made an interesting comment below worth looking at.

Honestly, the VA here is one of the better ones out there because it tries to take a humanistic approach rather than a top down corporate one. There's always room for improvement but some of the programs we have aren't even considered in a lot of the country.

This was on the national news but not because of Oregon. They said a new system may have dropped some but most of the people dropped hadn't done the yearly paperwork to stay in the program.

Thanks SSgt Michael Cox I did not see that news. I do agree, if they need paperwork you need to comply with that and if you dont, you will suffer the consequences.
