Thanks SP5 Mark Kuzinski for reminding us that July 19, 1964 was the day which the South Vietnamese called the “Day of Shame” because of the signing of the Geneva Accords that partitioned Vietnam in 1954
Not surprisingly, at a rally in Saigon, South Vietnamese Premier Nguyen Khanh called for an expansion of the war to North Vietnam. Although the US Ambassador Maxwell Taylor and other U.S. officials were present they declined comment. That action or more accurately inaction was a clear indication that the USA was not dedicated to a free South Vietnam.
We tried to be the chicken donating an egg for breakfast while the South Vietnamese were the hog which was slaughtered for the breakfast enjoyed by the North Vietnamese in 1975.

LTC Stephen F. With the best training, best weaponry, and best military leadership in the world, without the will of the people....ours or theirs, or efforts and sacrifices will be very hard spent.

LTC Bill Koski - well said, my friend.
Of course shaping the will of the people is the crux of the problem - then and now.

Good evening Morris - sorry I'm so late getting back to you. I had my kids and grand kids here for the past 5 days.

Interesting post this morning, Mark, and Good Morning. I haven't read much on the "Day of Shame" and, since I was 7, wasn't interested in politics when it happened. I'll need to look into that a little. Thanks for the post.
