I do wish the United States manufactured rocket engines for space exploration rather than purchasing them from Russia! DUMB SITUATION - JOBS - MADE IN AMERICA!

It is about time for someone to commend President Trump. The news media certainly cannot bring themselves to post our POTUS’s accomplishments or campaign promises already fulfilled! PO1 William "Chip" Nagel I am pleased your ‘net’ has been reactivated on. the correct. frequency! V/r, Chuck

If he gets it done, we'll have something to talk about. Until then, it's just fancy words. On the bright side, there's no one who can be subpeoned on the moon. Maybe he plans on that being his "safe space."

I wouldn't worry about it. Easy to talk--but his budget request did not reflect this at all. In fact, Congress actually gave them more than he asked for.

Told my wife who works for NASA and is familiar with the current Mars project and she had mixed feelings. "Sure going back to the moon would be nice but my department's focus is the technology that will get us to Mars."
So unless Congress is going to start diverting a lot of money to work on two distinct projects that don't necessarily support each other right now, this just seems like a distraction. But yes, getting back into the business of dedicated space exploration and advanced technology would be great.

Susan Foster - True the GOP budget doesn't reflect this or the $700B defense bill he's showcasing today in photo ops. As for NASA, probably telling them to make it happen on the current budget; cut other programs and make it happen would be what I presume.

MAJ James Woods - They would have to cut out absolutely everything else, even those programs that facilitate this happening. I don't believe they will ever be able to do that. That's like the US saying only infrastructure is important and we cannot fund another thing. It gives people a 'warm fuzzy' that he has a plan, when in fact it's the same thing they have been doing for many years.

Susan Foster - Sure and we can believe the Treasury Secretary that the Tax Bill is good because Congress will down the road pass three additional bills (welfare reform, infrastructure, Medicaid/Medicare reform) that still don't exist on paper. Yes, optimism can only get us so far until reality hits.

MAJ James Woods - You are so right. And then of course paying for it with less taxes doesn't work, so we have to cut something. I used to tell my boss, "You can spend your money any way you want, but you can only spend it once."
