President Trump Remarks on Religious Freedom

Our President likely has triggered more than a few, some right here on RP, with his opening comment, "The President began his remarks stating that the United States is "...founded on the principle that our rights do not come from government; they come from God." I believe this is true and factually verifiable. No, not that our rights come from God, but that belief is the foundation of the thinking of those who crafted a blueprint for these United States. So, please, let's not belabor that point. Let's focus instead on a more fundamental question, one that I direct to the atheists among us. From whence do our rights spring? You can't say they are rooted in the Constitution, or even more specifically, the Bill of Rights. Nowhere in either document are any rights asserted. The government in general, and the Congress in particular, are enjoined from infringing on these rights. I know that our progressive Leftist friends and family are attacking those rights, especially the right of self-defense. And without waiting to disarm us, they are infringing on our freedom of association, speech, and religion. Imagine how fervently they will attack when we are disarmed! Now, one more time, what is the source of the freedoms/liberties that we hold so dear?
