An example of the "hopeful" mentality by many large corporations. The idea is that if you don't resist the bad guys will go away without harming anyone. They assume that the bad guy will suddenly have a change of heart because no one is resisting them. Which is ludicrous on its face. If bad guys thought that way, they wouldn't be committing crimes in the first place. Those policies only invite more crimes because the crooks know that they are easy targets. Those types of policies are put in place by lawyers who have no clue of how the real world operates. Because the corporations know that the policies are idiotic, they are forced to punish any employee who violates them. Otherwise, many employees will violate them because they understand that they force the employees to be victims.

Craziness for sure. I think banks and fast food places also fire people who resist robbers. Must be a corporate liability thing if someone gets injured or killed. But it doesn't make much sense to me either.
