Russian has been invaded many time since Roman times by land based forces. They have worked actively to defend their homeland.
Col. Gen. Sergei Karakayev, the chief of the Russian military's Strategic Missile Forces, said that new types of Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles accelerate faster and are equipped with maneuverable warheads, making them more difficult to intercept.
The Russian military has talked about stationing its state-of-the art Iskander missiles to Russia's westernmost Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad that borders NATO members Poland and Lithuania.
I think the deployment of the missile shield to eastern Europe especially in the south in Romania makes sense to (1) demonstrate to NATO that we are in together with them and (2) protect against Iranian, Chinese, Russian or even Indian and Pakistani missiles,
