This is the 1975 movie Rollerball. It is available on Tubi .This movie was supposed to be the year 2018.

In this alternate future, there are no more wars and no more countries.

Countries were replaced by large corporations. The corporations have the game called Rollerball to keep the masses happy.

This is similar to having the Colosseum during the Roman Empire to keep the people preoccupied.

This futuristic Sci-fi sports movie was ahead of its time.

I have not seen the 2002 remake.
