"Unshackling Democracy: Embracing Term Limits, Empowering Citizens"
Primarily an Author trying to sell a book. The Idea of term limits in Congress isn't new. I just haven't heard an implementation plan that I resonate with. The thought of do nothing career politicians is anathema. But, I can also see a need to have someone that's been there for a while and understands how to make things happen. Senate terms are are 6 Years each, while the House is 2. I feel like the turnover rate in the house is too quick. I'd like to see it extended to 4 years and have those elections 180 degrees out of phase with Presidential Elections. I want 12 year limits, 3 terms in the House, and 2 terms in the Senate. With exceptions, very narrow, for the Senior member being able to get an extension of one term, should their constituents vote that way.
This still leaves open the path to career politicians, but they'd have to serve in the House and Senate to do it. So, somebody could do a 40 year stint in Congress, but they would be very few and far between, and highly unlikely.
