Thank you my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell for highlighting the Red Fox which is not native to North Carolina that was introduced in Colonial times for hunting.
Here in northern Virginia we have Red Foxes which are being hunted by coyotes. The Red Foxes are getting closer to human areas. Coyotes hunt in packs while Red Foxes are basically a pair of with their pups.

We have a red fox family living in our neighborhood. See them occasionally, they are pretty shy.
