LTC (Join to see) That article re: Covenanter Tanks said that a 1/2 million Canadian Troops passed thru Britain during WW II. Halifax history gives 494,874 as the historical number of Canadians that embarked from Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia during WW II. 50,000 of them did not survive to return to Canada. During our tour of Halifax in 2001, we were shown a huge 'ramp' on Halifax's water front. The guide told us that a 1/2 million Canadian Soldiers had marched up that ramp to embark for Britain during WW II.

Thank you for telling us the good and the Bad and the Ugly about the ramp and the soldiers who participated from Canada and some who didn't come back. That's about as many as didn't come back from Korea or from Vietnam and that was just in less than six years. What an honor but very sad that you were there. Thank you Chuck
