I totally agree with this. I foster dogs for several local rescues. What has helped me is the process of taking these scared, confused, and often abused animals and helping them to become great pets for a good family. What the dogs go for me in return is more than I can put into words. It's much more than I can get from any medication or treatment from the VA. With the help of my doctors, the animals under my care have become "emotional support animals." I started doing this before many of the Veterans Support Groups existed. If not for the dogs, I would not be here today. Given the pet overpopulation problem, it's also providing a valuable community service.

Quite a bit. One of my best friends who I trust more than most his one of the key players in the organization.

PO1 (Join to see) - Is the organization a chapter 501 C not for profit? Have they published their tax returns. What are their expenditures for?

CPT (Join to see) - That's a great question, I'm almost positive they have, but I will verify that and let you know. I understand where you are coming from. I'm the same way and after seeing that I had given to other organizations that we're miss handling funds, it was very disheartening.

I hope this organization is able to meet its goals and assist Veterans. I can't imagine actually contacting any for assistance (except VA Voc Rehab)...was raised to take care of myself and my family without asking for a handout.

Jay I totally understand where you are coming from. But yes they are doing great work. It's by no means a handout but a organization helping vets get paired with a therapy dog and at the same time rescuing these dogs and training them to be therapy dogs. So it's a two fold program. Hence the name Rescues rescuing Veterans. I have a lot of brothers who were in a bad place and once they were paired with a therapy dog their life completely turned around.

I completely agree, I am not trying to sound like I am judging folks, I am extremely grateful for all the organizations that are out there helping my brothers and sisters. I just don't think I could ever go to any of them and ask for anything! I know of a couple of guys who have a service dog and I am super happy that they were able to find a organization to assist them in that process. It has helped him and his family greatly. Again, I am in no way trying to sound like I am knocking this organization, they are provided lifesaving service dogs to those who need them, and there isn't anything more noble than saving the lives of our brothers or sisters! Keep up the great work.
