Not sure why they feel that this is resurrected? It was already released and the director's cut was already released. Twice. Its a great movie and was perfect the first time. The only reason it was shelved was that the Stones bit off a bit more than they could chew socially and they were pretty much upstaged by everyone, including The Who who's performance (fresh off of a tour) was the highlight of the film. Dirty Mac's performance of the White Album song "Yer Blues" is spell binding (Yoko in garbage bag, notwithstanding...). The film was release-ready virtually the moment everyone went home and turned the lights off.
A sampling of it was released in the 1990's basically to see if anyone still cared about (1) 60's music, (2) an oft-wished for concert or (3) the Stones. The results were as good as tech of the day could provide. Later, it was put on a different format and "remastered." But its the same. There is no secret rehearsal footage or likewise. If you've never seen it, all of your favorite 60's music is there, including "IT" girl Marianne Faithful, Taj Mahal and of course, the Stones. Brian Jones? He was strung out on heroin and dying. There were no interventions back then. Come on NPR - you knew that... You literally rocked until you dropped. And Amy Winehouse's headstone kind of verifies that little has changed from a record company management perspective.
