My father was in CBI form May 1942 until Nov 1945. He was NOT a fan of the movie Bridge Over the River Kwai. There is a book "Flying the Hump, Memories of the Air War", that gives a rather startling view of the danger of flying these missions if you are a interested in the War in that theater.

Capt Daniel Goodman - According to the author, the casualty rate for flight crews was so bad that is was kept secret throughout the war. If he is correct, and what my father told me tends to make me believe that he is accurate, we lost more crews flying the Aluminum Highway than we did in all the bombing raids in Europe.

Capt Daniel Goodman - I'll put it on my reading list. Still need to finish "Victory Point: Operations Red Wings And Whaler. " I recommend it, especially if you have read "Lone Survivor".
