I was definitely conflicted by the film. I've come to respect Gen. McChrystal (the real life inspiration for the film's protagonist) greatly after reading both the books "Task Force Black" and "Relentless Strike" and hearing how he turned JSOC into the war machine that it is (see what I did there). I honestly think we need more generals like him, ones that can bring a new way of thinking to an organization and shape it into a highly effective team. I admire that kind of organizational leadership. But, I also couldn't help but agree with the film's satiric take on the war. It also highlighted many of McChrystal's faults, although those faults were exaggerated for the film's protagonist. All in all, it was ok, but like the article states, it's hard to appreciate a satire when you know the real person it is satirizing.

Soldiers follow leaders who understand how to command.... such commanders are able to build that across the lines of nationalities and make an effective fighting force. You can build a force around a commander like GEN McChrystal.... but when you put in a GO like current one in Iraq... hard to do a movie on him.....
