It would seem PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - that stupid people do stupid things and this was one of them... Given all of the circumstances and situations that have gone on in the last week or so, this young guy did not use the gray matter between his ears to know that his actions would cause a panicking situation AGAIN!!! He deserves to go to jail if found guilty in a court of law!!! Great Post, Chip!

I can see him being charged with disturbing the peace - but from all I've read so far, he didn't threaten anyone and didn't even touch his firearm. Not sure he'd see jail time for the DoP charge, I'm not a lawyer. I definitely admit it was stupid though.... but otherwise lawful.

I don't see anywhere in that article where they stated that this clown was stopped by a good guy with a gun. I'm not sure where you're from but this took place less than 5 miles from my house.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - I think you are putting a lot into this that isn't warranted. Nothing in the article (or follow-up articles) suggest any connection with Racism, Nazism or terrorist threats or organizations. It wasn't a smart act (dare I say stupid even?) given the timing and circumstances - sure - but no need to get to name calling or labels. As for jail - I'm interested to hear/see what his phone video shows. From all the articles, he never mentioned anything threatening. He caused a distubance - so I can see Disturbance of the Peace charges perhaps. But, other than timing and the fact that he wore regular camouflage and a bullet proof (yeah...well) vest, he was just another guy. If he'd have been done up in SWAT gear, I bet the manager of the Walmart wouldn't have pulled that fire alarm and that fireman wouldn't have pulled his firearm. Not sure who cause more panic - the folks seeing him and overreacting, the manager pulling the alarm, of the guy himself (I did say it wasn't a smart action)...

GySgt Gregory Robeson - Agreed, on the local news they did not link anything to race etc. Actually in the part of town this store was located in, it is actually in one of the "better parts" of town. Springfield is racially diverse but most minorities live closer to the downtown area. According to police this nut claims he just wanted to see "if Walmart honored the 2nd Amendment".

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - nothing was racist about this and he's only facing 4 years. Locals are saying he had no intent to shoot just to terrorize. He's facing charges of 2nd Degree Terrorism.
