Surrounding a VC battalion in marshy areas required a lot of skill and coordination as well as courage SP5 Mark Kuzinski.
The Mekong Delta is a huge are which was and is best accessed by boat and helicopter.
It was wise to establish the mobile riverine force in June 1967 which enabled Army troops to operate with Navy gunboats and troop carrier boats with the "capability to travel 150 miles in 24 hours and launch combat operations with its 5,000-man force within 30 minutes after anchoring."
Kudos to the 2nd Brigade and associated support troops of the 9th Infantry Division and the U.S. Navy’s Task Force 117 which made up the mobile riverine force.
