It was NOT a "negligent discharge", it was not something the "just happened" AND it had NOTHING to do with his Basic Training.
But the media will run with his 'defense' as it paints both the military and gun owners in a bad light.

I agree, it is dead opposite of what basic is about. In basic you learn discipline, restraint, responsibility not mindless reaction to external stimuli. When you're talking firearms training I'm pretty sure the Army like the Corps teaches the basics of firearm safety one of which is keep your bugger hook off the bang switch.

Military training, if you had listened/learned from your period of instruction, would have made you think twice about the stupidity of heading down this rabbit hole. Instead you try to shirk responsibility and blame it on our profession of arms? I say, since you are an "expert" now with your extensive military training (sarcasm), you should be held to an even higher degree of accountability.
