Little known fact: potential American CO's of subs are trained at an elite UK sub school. Dunno why.

PO3 John Wagner - hoops I wasn't finished and they used to have an ID badge that would say associate and our deaths were red or maroon and I made the joke calling them comrade associate which is inline what you're talking about right now. After the pay was okay and in 1986 I was making $6.45 an hour for retail no Commission. Unfortunately, the company went bankrupt in 1999 but I had left them in 1987 after working there almost seven years seasonal and part-time. Comrade associate!

Well, I suppose if our allies are utterly dependent on the United States for defense that serves our purposes as well does it not? Allies who cannot defend themselves don't particularly want to creat negative waves or interfere with our economy in any way. I am more concerned that Canada and Great Britain maintain their men in an excellent state of training and good fighting trim. We can provide them with the proper weaponry if necessary. There are many facets to the maintenance of the NATO alliance.

I find it incredibly amusing as an adult to see all the "off colour" references...or even names..(Penelope Pittstop for example) in the old cartoons. We lost that civilized sort of humor over the past 50 years. Bugs Bunny Cartoons..and most,of the old Warner Brothers stuff.. was shown in theaters during intermission or whatever.. and was intended for an adult audience. It kills me that those type of cartoons were nixed by your social justice warrior types as "Too Violent". Now we have children playing video games where murder and violence against pedestrians and police officers is rewarded with points scored. And sexual perversions are included as normal in everyday cartoons which are put out for our children to watch. But that's "OK and acceptable." Movies have completely generated into high tech murder and destruction with absolutely no credible plot line above the third grade level. Gone are the subtle verbal witicisms and interplay which were what was expected in the past. Bob Hope could make absolutely disgusting remarks.... couched in a manner which adults would grasp yet still keep the younger crowd laughing along with the show. These are no longer out there. My wife and I enjoy the old movies for just that reason. The thin Man series with Myrna Loy and William Powell are a great example. With the raise of an eyebrow or a cleverly disguised adult witticism the message was transmitted far above the intuitive level of children. There are few real actors out there anymore. Clint Eastwood's films are still an example of real acting. He uses the same actors a lot in different roles. This works because he and all his actors are REAL stage trained and performing actors. As a rule his movies aren't particularly "sophisticated" and they never rely on any grandiose special effects. In other words the old acting methods still work quite well. The good old days weren't always good but we seem to forget that they weren't always bad either.

PO3 John Wagner - there is still hope John. Watch the latest Batman Lego movie and it's in the spirit of Warner Brothers or the jokes are meant for adults even though it's a cartoon for kids.
