To be fair, Obama was under great scrutiny when he ascended to the Presidency. Racists were waiting for him to stumble, to be the embodiment of the racist image portrayed in the silent film "Birth of a Nation". Of course he wasn't. However, anyone who criticized President Obama for his execution of his office or the performance of his Administration, has been lumped together with the racists who produced this film.

The truth is that President Obama opened himself to legitimate criticism in many cases and one isn't a racist for commenting on them, and I'm not just talking about racial strife. His handling of the defense and welfare of the United States is the subject of much discord, but his handling of incidents of racial discord do stand out. Sadly, the President fanned these flames by "taking sides" in every potential racial incident that has occurred during his Administration. Need I name them all? Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Michael Brown. Et al. We were not surprised when Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson showed up, but wasn't the President supposed to remain neutral. As the chief law enforcement officer, isn't he supposed to be blind to race, ethnicity, religion, economic class etc. Sadly, he leaped into each fray on the side of "his people" and only backed away when it became painfully obvious that he had piled on the wrong side.

Thus, instead of President Obama's election becoming a sign that we had left the scourge of racial bias behind us, it became rather an opportunity for the oppressed side to take revenge. Again, to be fair, it's hard to blame him. The imbalance created by slavery is hard to right, but still most people of good will had hoped that it might be righted some day. The experience of the past seven years makes me worry that it may never be.

Obama did not create them but he helped and nurtured them. Inviting Blm to the White House and telling them to keep doing what you are doing. And he never confirmed the burning of Furgesin or the riots and looting in Baltimore. If any thing he made Trump the victim and I'm sure he will get more votes because of it.

Really? So Obama was responsible for The Tea Party, the open dissent in Congress by the GOP, and the obstructionist policy that has been the GOP mantra for the pass 7 years?

Yes, but then it IS the job of Congress to slow things down. Obstructionist? They couldn't do that if he had enough votes to get things done, but then again, he had a majority in Congress and lost it. I think that tells us the majority of Americans did not want his ideas passed. Or even a majority of Democrats.
