Probably introduced to compete with the Heritage Rough Rider. I am on my second Single Six, but I tried a buddy's Rough Rider and was surprised at it was reasonably well built and reasonably accurate for fixed sights.

My son has a rough rider, I picked it up for him from a local dealer for $75, the finish was in very rough condition, but the gun shoots very well. We hit it with some Duracoat and it looks like a new gun. But the Heritage doesn't seem as well built as the Single Six is, I had a SS a few years ago, good little gun, this new one looks promising, I may get another.

And now I have a Wrangler with a second one on the way. Very nice little budget gun. Cabela's has them for $189 right now, with a 5% military discount, and a 20% Tuesday discount brought it down to $162. With some points on my Cabela's card one was free and the other one ended up costing $74 out of pocket.

SSG Tom Pike - I was looking at one yesterday at Rural King, I think the $189 is their regular price. But I already have 4 22 handguns in the safe already, all but one Rugers. I have the Single Six mentioned above, a SR22, and Mark III 22/45. I also have my son's GSG 22 cal. 1911, which is the only 22 version of that pistol I can recommend. It feels like a 1911 in the hand and the controls are the same. My next 22 pistol will be an upgrade to the new Mark IV 22/45. While I can disassemble and reassemble the Mark III version, it's still a royal pain in the ass compared to the rest of my handguns. OTOH, my next purchase will be another pistol caliber carbine/rifle. I really like the looks and features on the new Henry Tactical Carbines, my other choice is a Ruger PC carbine

I love my old Super Single-Six with interchangeable cylinders. It is a genuine tack-driver. Would like to shoot this new version.
