Good read. IMHO the 60's folks had a better concept of "change", or at least were able to get it done. The anti-war folks circled the Pentagon and people started listening. They created enough dissent to cause LBJ to forego a second term and were instrumental in ending the war. Not saying I agree with them but they were organized and unified. This new bunch seems more inclined toward anarchy and burning the system down. Social media has aided the process for sure but it is no substitute for solutions once changes are made. How do you appease a group that doesn't seem to actually know what they want? What do you offer that will satisfy them when all they really want to do is basically reject everything, with no clear alternative(s)? I hate to think what will happen if they reinstate the draft because much of this new crew will just flee the country. After 911 young people stepped up in a meaningful way and have been carrying the load for the last 15 years. This speaks greatly for them but unfortunately they get clustered in with a generation due to the minority that resists everything. I'm all for speaking up to bring about change but only if alternatives are offered. Burning down the house is no solution and only adds to the problem. Best wishes.
