COL Ted Mc Russia did not lose WWII....they were "allied" with the US in the fight against the Nazis and Japan. We supplied the Russians with thousands of trucks, tanks, artillery pieces, and who knows what else.
Now Japan, yah...we probably banned them from certain classes of naval vessels and other things as part of the unconditional surrender, but even that is now being slowly rescinded.

1SG James Wise - Master Sergeant; "The thing that really got me mad," Ken Burns says in explaining why he felt called to begin "The War," his forthcoming documentary series, "was finding out that a huge number of our high-school graduates think that we fought with the Germans against the Russians in the second world war. It's so unbelievable." " - Ken Burns (producer of 'The War' - a 14.5 hour documentary about WWII that was broadcast on PBS) quoted in 'Newsweek' on 18 SEP 07.
Mr. Burns estimate was that that "huge number" was approximately 40% - but I'm not really able to credit anything over 25% without seeing some actual statistical data.
Why am I prepared to go that high? Because I've run into Americans who live within 300 miles of the 49th Parallel who don't know that the people of Canada speak English.

They sidestep it by calling the Kuznetsov (and the Moskvas and Kievs before her) "aircraft carrying cruisers," and they do carry a pretty formidable armament of both ASM's and SAM's.

PO1 Edward Spencer - PO; The "Cruiser/Carrier" concept was originally an American one but none were ever built by the US.
The difference between a "Cruiser/Carrier" and an Aircraft Carrier is that (generally) a "Cruiser/Carrier" won't have CATO facilities. (They are also a whole lot cheaper.)
