Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen Best Aircraft in My Time was the MIG-29 and the Best Pilots were US Pilots. Pilot Skills are always the deciding Factor in this Game.

Absolutely, but simple fact is that for the last decade or so our pilots have experienced air to mud, not air to air operations. It's a skill that must be practiced and operational tempo of today hasn't emphasised ATA. Can they handle, of course, but need to talk about and practice ATA whenever possible.

Russia is not the Soviet Union. Then again, the United States isn't the same country that the Soviet Union faced. All things considered, I don't think we're as weak as President Obama led everyone to think. There is still some iron in the spine. So long as the test doesn't last too long, the US should prevail. If it lingers, the cracks in our economy will show (although, to be fair, Russia's will too)

Agree, but have to remember that other than Red Flag type exercises our pilots haven't had to face air to air combat in a very long time. It's a skill that has to be practiced frequently and with today's budgets and operational environments air to air hasn't been high on the training priority. Can we handle it, of course we can but my point is this type of warfighting needs to climb up the training priority list.
