If you look into the history of presidential campaigns in the 1800's, today's are tame in comparison. Probably 'seems' more since we are exposed to and have access to, far more media outlets today than in the 1800's.

You folks need to review your history of politics, that has been the case since our country was founded, and probably before. It's just that it has become more easy to acquire this type of information and publish it. I would say the candidate with the most to hide and is exposed loses. Have we already forgotten all the actual Emails and videos that was revealed by Assange? Of course, if someone claims to tell something negative on your opponent, you "love it". Depends on who's ox is being gored.

Pretty much agree. Some of our recent campaigns pale in comparison to the mud of the 1800s. As you said difference is that today things circle the globe within minutes rather than waiting for the post rider to get into town.

SSG Diane R. America is greater than any single person. We've survived much more grave events like the assassination of great presidents; we'll survive whatever this is.
