Don't doubt that most of this is real or close to real. But nowadays any time I see ex in front of alphabet I wonder. Way to many ex-alphabets. First. It is no surprise to me that they were the source of a lot of fake news and they are still doing that. If the US is in turmoil it makes it easier for them. Just a new old game. Second. Obama openly admitted that we interfered in the Russian elections trying to get rid of Putin. Paybacks a bitch. Third, not all of it was fake. For example, Benghazi, illegal donations from foreign governments, and the fact that they have gone from being broke when they left the WH to damn near billionaires. Warren Buffet isn't even that good.

I served in an IO slot for awhile and when this election BS started I commented to some that this looked like an IO campaign, of course I had no idea who or what was behind it. Watching the whole thing has been interesting from an IO perspective. The failing credibility of the main stream media isn't helping weed out the BS either.
You are so very right, this is a new version or variant to an old game with Russia.

The Russian campaign was effective for another reason: Many of the fake news stories begin with real events. For example, last August, during an active shooter incident at New York’s JFK airport, Watts says Russian fake news writers added to the panic. ..."...
