How did we end up with Saudi Arabia as an ally? Well, you have to go back to the time of the Carter Administration. Until then, Iran (yes, Iran) was America's ally in the Middle East. Iran was, and still is, the strongest nation in that region, and it was our ally. Sadly, President Carter consulted his pocket Bible and decided that the Shah of Iran was not a nice person, a Godly person. He was mean to the Muslim fundamentalists who resorted to violence to fundamentally change Iran into a fundamentalist Islamist state, a theocracy to provide the kernel of a new Islamist empire (pretty much the Iran we know today). So President Carter withdrew American support and knocked the props out from under the Peacock Throne. We tried making Iraq the new American ally, but that was like allying with the Nazis, and we were left with Saudi Arabia. So, drop a note of thanks to President Carter for giving us this mess

CPT Jack Durish, here are a few photos of the clothing of women and men prior to the revolution. Things are so much better now...not.
