I think this is really good subject for additional study and I've always wondered how owls can turn their heads all the way around. I mean, I think it's all the way around. Maybe it's like 180, or 270 degrees or something. I doubt it's a full 360 or 720 or whatever. I was watching My Cousin Vinny the other night - love the scene at the cabin when shoots at owl. I always thought Joe Pesci's best movies were comedies, but everyone just remembers him for Casino and Goodfellas - especially the tiki bar scene. Don't see many tiki bars anymore. I was talking to some millenials recently who thought a tiki bar was a Jimmy Buffet thing. I had to describe pseudo-Polynesian style 1950's era exotica. I recommend visiting the Hale Koa in Hawaii. Hawaii's awesome.
