Searching for a High Note in the U.S.-India Maritime Partnership

Modi has done alot in the last 3 years - particularly in placing India in a diplomatic offensive in Asia and in the "new" friendships found or refound. Past the recent PRC items - the real aspects have been with Vietnam, with Japan, and Australia and the push outward. One can not longer talk of US/PRC in the Pacific and realize that India is now a key player in the Pacific as well.

Manmohan Singh also did quite a bit in his time, but he maintained a fairly low profile and many achievements are left untold. Then; the political leadership changes and the breeze of politics turns against Congress and Manmohan Singh finds himself dead-center of controversy.

Modi has been outspoken on his foreign policy and his agenda to deterrorize Pakistan, whether it means surgical strikes across the border. He has reached out to both China and the PRC; Modi has engaged the Japanese to develop various Special Economic Zones along major national highways, like the one on NH-8 south of the National Capital on the Delhi - Mumbai E-Way. Japan is also building the Bullet Train network and has commissioned the one leg in Maharashtra. Modi has also reached out to Israel, Russia, UK, Vietnam and others in his three years. He has encouraged 'Make in India' businesses and eased FDI process attracting foreign companies to do business from India and invest in the future of this nation. Modi has signed contracts with US, France and Russia to enhance military readiness.

Although Modi has done a lot in a short time in office, his achievements have been overshadowed by his demonitization drive that has been a failure of sorts. The 2000 rupee note is due to be discontinued; the 500 rupee note has been faked and a parallel monetary platform is in existence; only the 100 rupee note has remained pure.

Agreed Sir; this leader is on his way to winning a second term in office, unless the coalition forms a government with Sharad Pawar as PM or Mumta Banerjee in the driver's seat. Some suggest SP of UP might broker a deal to elevate its candidate for PM. It is still too early to tell.

Apart from good; Modi's demonitization drive has been a failure because the 500-rupee note has already been counterfeited and the 2000-rupee note is said to go out of circulation soon. The 10-rupee coin has been copied too.

Another problem is the BJP constantly blaming opposition for it's own misadventures. People are tired of the constant bickering between BJP and Congress that they may look to elect a coalition government instead.

Modi has approved India's fresh currency notes and coins; the 2000-rupee notes are set to be discontinued. The 500 and 2000 rupee notes have been copied and fake notes were introduced into the market. These two currency notes were supposed to be so secure that counterfeiting them was totally impossible - impregnated with smart chips that were supposed to be traceable by authorities, but that never happened.

The same vendor supplying currency paper to India is also supplying the same security paper to Pakistan and Bangladesh. Recently, a smuggling gang was unearthed crossing the Bangladesh border into India with crores of fake 2000 rupee notes.

Are we friendly with Pakistan is a whole different animal. Not sure that is an aspect of politics in US-India relations - it was 2 decades ago --- but today? Pakistan is now with PRC... and not the US... such has occurred in the Long War.
