Another sad story, but vets have to try not to put themselves in environments that set them up for such attacks. Not justifying what happened to him, but I think some of these attacks could possibly be resolved.

SSG Audwin Scott The million dollar question is whether he was in uniform or out of uniform --- as unfortunately most recognize us out of uniform due to our haircuts and professional demeanor and how we walk. I know I have a hard time fighting not to look like I'm marching when walking from Point A to Point B.

I live 2 blocks from where Schroeder was a attacked (Glover Park). It is a pretty safe neighborhood and have never experienced any problems. That said, as with any big city it is probably a good idea to pay attention to your surroundings when out and about late at night.

This is horrible when I see things like this... Makes me sick to my stomach. And the fact that it's hitting close to where I am located, extremely aggravates me to no end.

I know this is entirely a lot more personal to you then SSG Moore, yes it's a terrible tragedy that we continue to hear about, as I posted we as veterans can prevent most of this by not putting ourselves in harms way just like we learned on the battlefield.

SSG Audwin Scott I fully agree. I remember an article not too long ago that I read where a service member was beaten so badly that he was placed into a coma and later succumbed to his wounds and passed on at the hospital only shortly after returning from his third combat tour overseas. It's sad when we can't even feel safe in our own country.

SSG Ryan Moore - That is sad we fight for our country and have to succumb to being killed or brutally beaten on our own streets.
