Thanks for sharing 1SG(P) (Join to see) the artwork of the French children they created as they reacted toe what was termed the Great War long before it was termed WWI.
My paternal grandfather was a British Army lance corporal who fought at Gallipoli, Turkey before he was sent to the trenches of France. His brothers also served in that campaign.

The pictures were quite colorful and indicates the trauma inflicted upon their hearts. The numbers of American doughboys flooding into France were seen first by the population and then after months of training they were in the trenches in such numbers that the last German offensive to capture Paris was turned into a route that re-captured French land lost since 1914.
