I remember this because it was the year I got my first new car, a 1966 Chevelle SS 396 which I later dropped a highly modified 427 cu. in. "Rat Motor" in with a 4:56 posi-trac differential. It would pass everything except a gas station. What memories!!!

I wish I still had the '76 Mustang I had, that bugger could scoot down the road.

I still have a 1969 Chevy Caprice that my dad ordered brand new for my mother. It"s silver with a black vinyl top, black interior, 2-door hardtop and has a 396 cubic inch engine in front of a turbohydramatic transmission. The miles and the model year run together... in that it only has 69,127 actual miles. Heck, it's just now getting broke in! I did have it repainted with clear coat over the new paint. It is sweet!

As a Navy brat this song evoked bittersweet feelings because September often meant a new base for my dad and the separation from friends that entailed.
