I don't know what you think, but I think this sucks. If there aren't already enough veterans looking for a job, 30,000 service members will be cut in 2016. Isn't there still terrorists out there? If there is supposed to be more boots on the ground in the Middle East in 2016, someone explain to me why
More troops are mandated to be cut.
Faced with a mandate to cut nearly 30,000 active and Reserve soldiers in the coming year, the Army will have little patience with troopers who cannot deploy or perform their operational duties.
While a bulk of the force reductions, 15,000 in the active component and almost 14,000 in the reserves, will be achieved through attrition, the Army will convene involuntary early retirement and separation boards for select categories of officers and NCOs.

So I thought it sucked that promotion boards for O's and WO's had a separate board after selection. This board had access to restricted file information that the promotion board couldn't see. There was no appeal if this board removed you from the list. Sounds sinister but it was designed to look at recent events and not what happened when you were a private.
I had a friend with an incident in his past and he had been overlooked twice but SELCONed. He got picked up during SELCON and passed this secondary board as well (promoted in October). They do give second chances and it isn't all about numbers as people fear.
To add to it, we are all 'needs of the Army'.
