I understand this and it is maddening, embarrassing. My father was a Nazi sympathizer (he may have even been a member of the American Nazi Party though I have no proof). He wasn't alone. JFK's father, Charles Lindbergh, and other notable Americans praised Hitler's Germany (until they didn't). Hitler thought he had a chance of allying with America based on the discrimination he saw here. Hitler drew inspiration from Margaret Sanger's use of eugenics to purify the American population as he sought to purify Germany in the same way. Thus, I am not offended by this article. I am thankful that we rose above our flawed heritage. We must look honestly at our past to insure that it doesn't happen again. We must draw inspiration from Israel's pledge "Never again!"
