Thanks for reminding us SP5 Mark Kuzinski that in late August 1967 President Lyndon Baines Johnson expanded the approved list of targets in North Vietnam, authorizing strikes against bridges, barracks, and rail yards in the Hanoi-Haipong area and additional targets in the previously restricted areas along the Chinese border.
While this was ostensibly done to placate Congressional “hawks” and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, it was wise decision IMHO.
