Apparently, I am getting a tax cut. I guess deficits don't matter when a Republican is in office. And let's hear it for the very professional and straight forward manner in which Republicans pushed this through.

Part of the reason Clinton had a budget surplus is that he didn’t put money into maintaining infrastructure like bridges and roads and passed them on to his successor. By not maintaining them adequately, the cost was actually more because crews had to do even more work replacing rusted beams that could have been painted, etc.

Using the National Debt simply encourages Presidents to game the system and opposition Congresses to spend more money to ruin potentially great legacies. I really don’t know if there is an objective standard one could use. Anything you come up with people will find a way to exploit.

Col Broom gives Obama too much credit with the economy. Bush was frugal compared to him and I can still remember Obama bragging how he was going to turn the economy around in three years. I’m no great economist or mathematical genius and I knew he was pulling numbers out of his @$$! He criticized Bush’s spending calling it unpatriotic and unAmerican! And in less than four years in office with no realistic budget of any sort passed, he spent more in less than four years than Bush spent in eight. While I’m no fan of GW, he did get a raw deal and got blamed well into Obama’s second term for everything Obama failed to accomplish.

I find no reason to give credit to that usurping treasonous POS that squatted eight years in the White House credit for what he didn’t do. Obama didn’t get Bin Laden, the military with the help of the Intelligence Community did. He did everything he could to foil attempts at getting him and turned around the rescue mission that could have saved Ambassador Stevens and lied about it too. The ONLY way Obama should be remembered is as the sorriest example of what happens when people are too lazy to background check candidates and let the lamestream media do the picking for them. Under Obama, the rich got richer and the poor got poorer and more dependent on big gub’ment to support them. He lined the pockets of his rich campaign donors with our tax dollars — which they squandered and were not held accountable for. He failed to enforce Federal Immigration Law and encouraged illegal immigration, which is a burden on our society and drain on our economy. I could fill volumes on why Obama should be sitting in an orange jumpsuit instead of being hailed as some sort of economic genius that he surely isn’t.

Capt Jeff S. - I must say, that was quite the unsupported rant there. I'll leave those comments alone, rather than attempting to rebut any points within your commentary. I will just say this though....your reading comprehension must be running wild because you're attributing things to me that I didn't write.

LTC Stephen F. - "That was possible in part due to the fact that no significant wars were fought under his watch." Do you think that was just coincidental?

LTC Kevin B. - without violating my debriefings over the decades, our activities against and decisions not to engage against primarily Islamic-terror activities from 1979 through the 1990's were in part considerations following our experience in the Vietnam War.
We at times have been more isolationist in diplomacy/warfare while we have tried to expand our economic influence while ensuring the dollar is the currency preferred by the "world."

It's about time - needless to say not one Dem voted for it. So the Dem's don't want a taax cut. That makes no sense at all.

CBO indicates that for most people it won't be a tax cut. I'll make out like a bandit according to them though.

Dems would prefer to raise your taxes -- providing for a huge central government to take care of the People.

Good question. Only half of Congress was involved in writing it, all the way up until the very last second.

Capt Dwayne Conyers - I'll be watching families above and below the Poverty line because I believe the entire package (beyond just the tax cuts) will reverse the increases in families living below the poverty line. It was sad under Obama that he did not see the harm of sub par GDP growth rates over time and the real social damage they were doing to the country.

Why thank you, you don't perhaps have the tl;dr? Lol, no wonder the Democrats didn't want to read it.
