I don't understand the appeal of "the Donald" but then again I am not a fan of reality TV either.

How could 43's image and reputation be any more tarnished than it already is no matter what he says or does.

I don't agree. As a life-long real Republican... The Republican Party, the Party of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight David Eisenhower, Barry Goldwater and even Ronald Reagan... the party that I grew up with is dead.

It died as a result of Richard Nixon and the Southern Strategy. Infected and infested by the hate and fear mongering from southern red and blue dog democrats who left that party and came into the my party...and then joined with the northern ultra right, John Birchers, McCarthyites, Northern KKK/Aryan nations types and others of their ilk.

Both of these groups were in the small minority in their former parties but combined within Republican Party they destroyed it. Today the party is Republican in name only. It is really the Dixiecrat Party full of ultra right nutwing religious fringe racist crazies who are bought and paid for by the likes of the Koch Brothers, Sheldon Adelson, Rupert Murdock, big Corporate donors and the 1% and others of their ilk who want all the rights, benefits and perks of American Citizenship but none of the responsibilities.

Shallow, indifferent, government hating, my way or the highway attitudes and tax cutting as a panacea to fix all ills of government and bought and paid for by special interests. The Grand Old Party of the Republic is dead and has been dead for a very long time. And it is way past time that they lose control of Congress because they have brought nothing positive to America since they've been in charge...and only line their pockets with special interest money and do their bidding.

In the past we always had wing nuts. But they were small in number. The McCarthyites, Strom Thurmon and others of their ilk. The Democrats likewise had George Wallace and others of his ilk. But in both parties they were only a very small minority. But today these kinds of people totally infect and infest the once great the Republican Party destroyed by extremism.

So no it's time for this RINO Dixiecrat party to be ejected from Congressional control so we can get things done. Fringe ideologies, whether ultra right or ultra left are equally bad and fail to serve the greater good of our Republic. Donald Trump is the perfect example of a party gone off the rails and continuing on...having long ago lost it's way.

Time for the party to be consigned to the trash heap of history's bad ideas.

There are parts of your argument I concur with and parts that I don't agree with. The fringe elements of both parties have played the party majority. But they have reversed roles and now perhaps it is time for both parties to implode and some new less marginal extremists may emerge, or else this is a harbinger of the future of the great nation of America. There are solid centrists in both parties, but when 33% of a party encourage an"outsider" that is far from qualified, we have headed down the rabbit hole. Someone wasn't the voice for someone, so there you have it. I think it began with the CNN 24/7 news cycle, the political aspirations and voice of actors and actresses and the overall encouragement of bizarre behavior. Our moral compass has tilted off in a new direction. The Dems had the house and senate and what exactly did they do?
