September 29, 1780 John André Was hung as a spy and cohort to General Benedict Arnold, who was about to turn over his command at West Point, to the British.
In an age before radio or television, John André was an interesting guy to be around. He was a gifted story teller with a great sense of humor. He could draw, paint and cut silhouettes. He was an excellent writer, he could sing, and he could write verse. John André was a spy!

How things have changed. Spying, sedition and treasonous activities against our country could often result in the death penalty, now they are becoming an accepted practice. I cringe when I think what we are leaving for our children and grandchildren.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen
Very true. Watched the show 'Washington's Spys' for a couple seasons and this hanging was included as a subplot in one of the episodes. In some ways wish we could go back to the attitude about crimes against the country that existed back then.
