Apparently the training time to churn out F-16 pilots is being drastically shortened, too, in order to get pilots out of UPT and into the cycle - which means they would be hitting instructor status around the time they hit O-3, I believe.

It's not the rank, it's the experience a pilot has in the air that determines whether or not they qualify as an IP

MSgt Mark Bucher Right now, I don't know that many are getting the experience. From what my buddy is telling me, EVERYONE is begging for more flight time, but most are just getting more gopher/assistant work.
