I'm sure there are other propulsion systems that can work a lot longer than the conventional batteries. Maybe they should get some of those batteries from the billion-dollar Elon Musk Factory. Are they able to use some other hydrolysis with a split the water to make fuel out of that? I'm sure would cost a lot less, not to mention the decommissioning cost would be a lot cheaper. You tell me the Enterprise is radioactive and unable to be a museum ship.

On the one hand there is the upfront cost of the boat. On the other is the cost of support needed to operate it. Will we need new refueling ships and associated crews to give these diesel electric boats sufficient range in the Pacific?
