Depends. When I was trying to become a SEAL, I didn't want to know anything outside of my training program. I wanted to stay as focused as possible. However, now that I am married and a little older, I think I'd want to know what is going on. It's a good way to know what is going on at home, and to resolve the little things before they become big things. Also, sometimes keeping a secret can build and build. Letting your spouse in allows you to share the weight. It depends on the person. Know your spouse. They may not want to know, or they may want to know. Don't let a secret threaten your marriage though.

Really interesting topic. If by secrets you mean ones that are harmful to the relationship, then absolutely not. But if it is a matter of shielding them until they are better equipped to deal with the issue, or if by the time you are reunited it is no longer an issue, than keep it on the down low.
